COVID-19 Grand re-opening of Mauritius scheduled for October
Mauritius has prioritised the vaccination of those working in the tourism industry in order to prepare the island for the return of international travel.

From 15 July to 30 September, fully vaccinated travellers can visit Mauritius with the requirement of staying in resort for the first 14 days. This is similar to Thailand’s ‘Phuket Sandbox’ program where vaccinated visitors must remain on the island for two weeks before travelling elsewhere in the country.

But for IAGTO golf tour operators the most important announcement is the next phase that is scheduled to begin in October when Mauritius will be fully open to vaccinated travellers (with a negative PCR test 72 hours prior to boarding). For further information click here.

Currently, 40% of the population of Mauritius has been fully vaccinated and they hope to achieve ‘herd immunity’ by October when the island opens up to international tourism.
