In accordance with the Decree of the Covid-19 Task Force Number 15 of 2021 regarding 19 Foreign Countries whose citizens are allowed to enter Indonesia as of October 15th, 2021, Raja Haji Fisabilillah International Airport in Bintan – Riau Islands, is one of the airports opened to welcome international tourists, together with Ngurah Rai Airport – Bali. In addition to flights, tourists from the 19 countries can also come by using a cruise ship or sailing ship (yacht). Following the decree, the tourism industry in the Riau Islands, as well for the golf tourism, are ready to safely welcome visitors back to Indonesia.

Prior to the pandemic, the Riau Islands had been known as a magnet for international golf tourist, which were dominated by the Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan markets. Golf destinations in the Riau Islands region are centred on two islands: Batam and Bintan. Batam Island is known as a golfers’ paradise. There are at least six golf courses in Batam which become golfer’s favorite because of its challenging holes, hence Batam golf courses are very suitable for tournaments. Golf courses in Batam are designed by world famous golf legends such as Larry Nelson, Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus, and Max Wexler.

Meanwhile, the favourable side of Bintan Island is that it has golf courses that are integrated with five-star hotels with stunning on-course sceneries which is a combination of sea and forest. Golf courses in Bintan are designed by world famous golf legends, such as Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Ian Baker-Finch.

Six golf courses in Batam and two golf courses in Bintan are CHSE certified, which means the products and service provided have met the hygiene, health, safety, and environmental sustainability guideline set by the Indonesia Government, to ensure the safety of visitors.
