COVID-19 No quarantine for vaccinated English travellers on return from vacation from many destinations from 19 July
In Episode 12 of the IAGTO News Channel, supported by the Lisbon Golf Coast, we interview Paul Charles who has been is at the forefront of lobbying the UK government on its Covid travel restrictions. His agency also advises other destinations and travel corporations on their Covid response.

Although the interview took place 24 hours before an important UK government announcement last Thursday, his predictions were spot on!

The conversation was quite wide-ranging and you can view the entire 10-minute interview here.

Specifically for those of you reliant on the UK market, here are some key take-aways from the UK government’s travel announcement last Thursday:

  • From 19 July, fully vaccinated UK residents visiting ‘Green’ or ‘Amber’ destinations will not have to self-isolate upon their return to the UK. The same rule applies to unvaccinated individuals under the age of 18. The list of Green/Amber countries will be updated on 15 July.
  • On their return, fully vaccinated UK residents will only have to take one PCR test on Day 2, without the need for a second test on Day 8.
  • Leisure travel is now permitted to Green and Amber countries unless otherwise directed by the UK Foreign Office.
  • While the UK now permits leisure travel to the USA, the US government still has in place a ban on leisure travel from the UK. A UK-USA working group is meeting weekly to address this issue.
  • The waiving of the requirement to quarantine when travelling to the UK from countries on the Amber list does not apply to people resident outside of the UK, even if fully vaccinated. This is currently under review.

This all comes into effect on Monday 19 July, the same day that all legal Covid prevention measures in England come to an end.
