COVID-19 Irish Golf Courses Update
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Irish golf courses have been closed for play since late March 2020. Throughout this period, course greenkeepers and maintenance staff have been permitted to continue working, provided social distancing measures were followed.

On 1st May 2020, the government of Ireland published a 5 stage ‘Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business’ to ease the Covid-19 restrictions and reopen Ireland’s economy and society in a phased manner:

  • Phase 1 (18 May)
  • Phase 2 (8 June)
  • Phase 3 (29 June)
  • Phase 4 (20 July)
  • Phase 5 (10 August)

On 18th May 2020, Irish golf courses will open to members-only for play, with various social distancing measures and operating restrictions in place. The Golfing Union of Ireland and Ladies Golfing Union of Ireland have published a protocol for a phased reopening of Irish golf courses, in line with the Governments Roadmap.
