PALAGETTO, THE HARVEST IS ALMOST DONE. THAT’S HOW IT WENT
VERY GOOD YEAR CHARACTERISED BY A REALLY HIGH QUALITY. AND FOR THE VERNACCIA THERE IS ALREADY TALK OF EXCELLENCE
At Palgetto, the organic winery immersed in San Gimignano territory, the harvest is in its ending phase and the forecasts indicate a very high quality year.
One of the company principles, which ensures a fine wine, is undoubtedly the choice to opt for an organic farming with traditional techniques and a thorough cutting-edge analytical
“The balance, for this year, is positive – says with satisfaction Arianna Fioravanti. During all the harvest time, the grapes were strictly controlled. The red and white fruits were very healthy, and since it’s the beginning of our organic farming we are very satisfied about it. Compared to the last year we started with a slight delay, collecting the grapes around September 10th, on the otherù hand with regard to Vernaccia we begun around the middle of the month. We haven’t finished yet but we hope to conclude the harvesting in a few days to dedicate ourselves to another important moment: the mill, for our olive oil production.”
A constant search for methods and procedures with the aim of a sustainable production, traditional and ecologically balanced alongside a very thorough and prudent vineyards management that allowed Palagetto to have some very high quality grapes this year.
“During the winter – explains Arianna – we had to dedicate with great attention and cure to the normal farming activities: trimming, fertilisation, annual vineyards mantainence. In the vineyard the most complex work that demanded a lot of time was when the plants started to grow. From that moment on our days where spent mostly in the vineyards with a more than satisfactory result. Since the harvest is almost over we are now in the middle of the drawing off of the red wines- concludes- we are switching between the racking and the collecting, while we also continue the processing and the harvest in our other family company in Montalcino”.
