British Airways announces direct flights from London Heathrow to Kalamata

24 November 2015

Costa Navarino, the prime sustainable destination in the Greek region of Messinia in southwest Peloponnese, is set to entice more British travellers in 2016 following the British Airways’ announcement of new direct flights from London, Heathrow to Kalamata, from April 30 to September 24.

The flights will have total capacity of 168 people per flight and are scheduled twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays, directly from Heathrow. The two new flights strongly signify the UK’s trust in the region’s potential, which was further enhanced by the successful hosting of ABTA’s conference in Costa Navarino in October of this year, where 550 of the most influential professionals of the British Tourism attended.

Commencing April 30th 2016, British Airways will ease the connection between the city of London and the tranquil Messinian coast, setting apart Kalamata as one of the few Greek airports that is connected direct to London Heathrow. With transfer times considerably reduced, it will be increasingly more convenient for UK travellers to experience the region of Messinia, having the opportunity to take up a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation in the most pristine, unspoilt, natural, beautiful and historical seaside landscape, with its olive groves, green hillsides and unrivalled views to the Ionian Sea.

Stephanos Theodorides, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, TEMES mentioned “We are truly honoured that British Airways will commence two direct flights from Heathrow to Kalamata in April of 2016. At the same time, we are truly delighted that our joint cooperation with the prefecture of Peloponnese will contribute to such an impactful outcome, with significant benefits, both for the region, Costa Navarino and the country itself. This cooperation presents a best practice example of our successful cooperation with the prefecture of Peloponnese, actually highlighting the need to create similar synergies to achieve common goals of mutual benefit for all respective parties.”

With year round mild temperatures in the region and a vast number of activities to experience, Costa Navarino is the ideal destination for every season. From olive oil tasting and olive harvesting to philosophical walks, cooking classes and astronomy nights, Costa Navarino is the first to open and the last to close the tourist season in Greece, giving our UK guests the chance to unwind, while enjoy the accommodation and facilities offered by the two hotels: The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort & The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino.
